Note one week was almost not enough time for reading the short stories for one class of thirteen which read 4 page stories, meeting three days per week. At first it may seem that beginning writers dont need to focus on description because their stories contain too much of it in proportion to the other elements of a story. In this unit the students write a letter to a grandchild to be opened on the grandchilds 16th birthday.
